HEY THERE FOLKS!!!
Well Im finding Finnland's winter a bit tough. Well very tough. The sun has set by 4:30pm and is only rising at 10am. It is very sad. At 12pm it is as dark as it might be at 6pm in Australia's winter. So I don't get to see much sun and a couple nights ago my body finally told me that it wasn't happy so now I have learnt to be more kind to my self and not stress out too much if I need to sleep a bit more. haha.
I think all the people here find it hard. A lot of people just stay in there rooms and don't go to the living room to socialise which is what I normally do but am not at the moment and haven't been doing coz I NEED TO SLEEP!!! haha. I have great friends here. But I do miss all my friends in Australia. And I really miss the aussie way of speaking! I've been away for 5months now. whenever I hear someone speaking australian my ears prick up like a dog. It's quite funny really. I think Im almost forgetting how to speak propper english coz none of my friends are native english speaksers except for 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 haha.
I am really enjoying it here but I am sad coz I miss home very much! I am sick of the language barrier, I am always trying to learn new Finnish words and am trying so hard to learn the language just so I can cope better in the shops and can socialise better. It's really hard to get by even in the suppermarket coz its hard to know what everything is. Im a lot better now and things are way easier than they were at the start.
I can even order in Finnish now and the server person will speak back to me in Finnish insdead of English which is what they used to do when they heard my accent speaking Finnish.
Problem is now I have to pretend I understand what they are saying back coz I don't want to blow my cover of being a Finnish speaker. haha. So far so good. I find if they wave the recipt at me and say some funny sounding words they are asking if I want the reciept. To which I reply "ei kiitos" (No thank you) If I am buying achohol and they look at me funny and say funny words I pull out my ID, then if the say something else they are usually asking if I want a bag. To which I usually say "ei kiitos" coz they cost money. But it's tricky coz sometimes before they ask if I want a bag they ask if I have this special card for the shop like the 'Fly Byes'. So I have to pay attention to see if I here "Korrtti" in with the funny words then I can usually guess what they are saying.
Well any way. I have added more photos. They are of Pietarsaari and Aland which is where I did my first payed gig in Finland. It was the best week ever!!!!
That's all for now. I will try and keep up dateing more offten now.
See you
